THE BIRTH OF ZAKILE DESIGNS
Zakile Designs launched in 2012 and is 100% woman owned, run by Diane Sayed.
Zakile is a SMME textile manufacturer. Our first opportunity was to showcase in an OR Tambo Airport store with a range of brown dolls. Using our amazing African culture and being a diverse, rich, colourful, bright, energetic, warm and hospitable country, our first clothing ranges began. The vibrant colours of wax fabric and Shwe Shwe prints speak directly to our rainbow nation, but we are not bound to this and offer other designs and fabric that appeal to all customers. Over the years we have expanded into hair accessories, homewares and bags.
We create and manufacture affordable, well priced and good quality product which has had great success with both local and international customers. Our ranges are across many outlets in South Africa and caters for adults and kids.
Additional to manufacturing our own range we also offer our service as a CMT to up and coming designers looking to create their own beautiful ranges. Zakile also manufacture and supply corporate gifting and our service includes printing and embroidery for fashion and corporate.
When you purchase or use any Zakile product and services, you are supporting manufacturing and job creation within South Africa. Jobs are key and equal to that is skill development especially to women. We have trained young ladies in the skill of sewing through the skills development program in our community church and also trained in laying and cutting in our business. We have also been effective in upskilling seamstresses and continue to do so.
